Admissions FAQ

How many applications do you receive?

Approximately 150.

How many students are admitted?

We have physical space and faculty for 20-25 students per year. 

When is the application due?

End of business day on November 15

When do classes start?

Classes start in June. 

How many observation hours are required?

40 minimum

How many different settings should I observe and volunteer before applying?

At least two different settings. Be sure to spend enough time at each setting so that an OT can properly evaluate you.

When should I take the GRE?

Before November 15th

What should my personal statement contain?

  • Describe your response to periods of change or transition
  • Describe how formative life experiences influenced your desire to pursue a career in OT
  • Grammar, mechanics and formatting are important.  This is your opportunity to present yourself to the admissions committee, you want to make a strong first impression.
  • Please paginate your document, double space your statement and use an adequate size font; (e.g. Times New Roman 12pt.)
  • Keep this document to 1,500 words or less.
  • Follow instructions for submitting according to your level of application

What is the minimum for each prerequisite course?

Applicants must have earned a prerequisite grade point average of 3.0 (B) or higher on a scale where A = 4.0.

Additionally, applicants must earn a grade of "C" (2.0) or better in each prerequisite course. A grade of  "C-"does not meet this criteria.

In Anatomy a "B" or better is preferred.

How many references are required for the application?

Applicants will need 3 reference forms in total: one from an instructor, one from an employer/volunteer supervisor, and another from a non-relative of the applicant's choice.
