Admission to the Health Sciences Major
Incoming Students: As a new freshmen or transfer student. You will declare your major through the JMU One Book website when you sign up for orientation. This major becomes your official major on your academic record.
Current Students: If you are a current student wishing to declare or change a major, minor, or pre-professional program, you must complete a request through MyMadison. After you complete the request for the Health Sciences major, you are required to contact a Health Sciences academic Advisor, Laura Blosser (for students with last name beginning with A-L) or Alisabeth Gheen (for students with last name beginning with M-Z) to complete the declaration process. Visit www.meetme.so/laurablosser or www.meetme.so/alisabethgheen to schedule an appointment. Students have two months after submitting the declaration request through MyMadison to contact an Advisor or the request will be denied. The Health Sciences major does have blackout dates. Students are only admitted twice a year, September 15th and February 15th. If you would like to take HTH courses in the Spring semester, you need to have contact with an Advisor on or before September 15th. If you would like to take HTH courses in the Fall semester, you need to have contact with an Advisor on or before February 15th.
